DIY PPI claims are on the increase

More and more people are  bypassing PPI claims firms in making payment protection insurance refund claims.

In the first half of 2012, The Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) said that around half of the 85,000 new PPI complaints received were made directly by consumers compared to around 20% in 2011.

In the meantime, the number of PPI complaints has risen by 73% since the second half of 2011, and the Ombudsman service handles approximately 3,000 calls on the subject of PPI misselling every day.

Claims management companies have come for increasing criticism due to their high fees and the fact that most claimants could easily make their own claims and thus avoid any charges. There are many diy ppi claim templates available on the internet.

The latest figures show that new PPI complaints continue to be made with PPI cases making up 63% of all complaints received by the ombudsman in the six months to June 30, with up to  1,500 new cases arrived each day.

With the rise in people making their own claims has been the increase in people looking for a DIY PPI claim template. These are available from many providers such as Money Saving Expert and Which? Some banks and building societies have their own PPI template form as does the Financial ombudsman. Making a claim using one of these templates is easy although you don’t even need to use a form – just writing a letter to your provider with all the relevant information should be enough.
